The Importance of Onsite and Offsite SEO…
The Internet has become one of the major sources of information on almost any topic imaginable. More importantly, it provides people and companies a venue to introduce themselves, their products, and their expertise such as multimedia or web design to a larger demographic unbounded by place or time. This however results in tighter competition for getting the attention of readers and customers. Visibility and popularity are thus key elements of a successful website.
This is where the use of search engine optimization (SEO) comes into play.
There are two SEO techniques used today: Onsite SEO and Offsite SEO. These two are different in nature but equally important in boosting the website’s traffic, page rank, and link popularity.
Onsite SEO is manipulating the content of the website: website design, textual content, targeted keywords, loading time, meta descriptions and tags, and optimized HTML titles. Targeted keywords are used for the proper indexing of the website’s pages and articles. The owner must be aware of the pages’ keyword density without overcrowding the content. One must keep in mind that high quality textual content must still be the main priority.
On the other hand, the use of meta tags and optimized meta descriptions- using targeted keywords to describe the pages’ contents- helps ensure that the articles are indexed accurately. It is also important to use an optimized HTML title for each page or article, as this is what appears in search engine results. It goes hand in hand with the meta description as the latter also appears in the search results. Both help the viewers decide on whether they should click and view the page or not.
Once the viewer clicks on the website’s link, the web design and loading time will play important roles. The web design must be neat and that the images are also optimized in order for the loading time to be as quick as possible. However, it is important to remember that though Onsite SEO may succeed in driving viewers to the website; it is still the content which will keep the viewers interested.
In short, Onsite SEO techniques help in the proper indexing of website pages, as well as ensure that page descriptions provide viewers an accurate idea on what the website is all about. However, these alone might not suffice. The website itself should have to be popular in the virtual community, and this is where Offsite SEO comes into play.
Offsite SEO involves marketing the website. This has to do with building quality back links from other websites to one’s own.It is important to get high quality back links: links coming from high-ranking sites related to the website. Offsite SEO also involves submitting articles and pages to directories, search engines, and book marking sites. Creating and maintaining profiles in social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter to market websites is fast becoming popular as well.
To sum up, both Onsite and Offsite SEO are vital techniques for a website owner, aside from having an website designed effectively with useful content. Both techniques, if used hand in hand, help increase a website’s visibility and traffic.
These in turn enable the website owners to fully utilize their sites to showcase their products and services, and as a result generate potential income, whether through ads or through actual sales.
