How to Incorporate Apple Pay into Your Business Plan by @ProvenData…
With the recent release and popularity of Apple Pay, it’s important to consider how it works and whether or not it offers an opportunity for your business. Apple Pay is a system developed by Apple that allows iPhone, iPad, and Apple iWatch users to store all of their credit cards and payment information on their mobile device. Apple claims his is actually a more secure way of paying than your traditional methods and that all of the user’s cards can be accessed in one convenient location.
Sounds pretty good, right?
With more and more people signing on to using Apple Pay for their one-stop shopping liaison, it is important to consider some of the ways that this system may impact your business plan directly. Start with a breakdown of what Apple Pay is more specifically and what it can be used for, and then you can start getting into ways this impacts businesses, as well as e-commerce sites specifically.
What is Apple Pay?
As mentioned above the Apple Pay system is a digital wallet that allows users to keep track of all of their payment cards (credit or debit cards) in one place. The caveat is it is only available to users of the: iPhone 6, 6 Plus, 6S, 6S Plus, Apple Watch-compatible devices (iPhone 5 and later models), iPad Air 2, iPad Pro, and iPad Mini 3 and 4.
Apple does not specifically require people work only with their terminal system, but will also work with Visa’s PayWave, MasterCard’s PayPass, and American Express’s ExpressPay terminals, so there is a lot of flexibility even though it is an Apple-specific system.
Ultimately, what this does is replace the chip-in pin or the magnetic strip at payment terminals. This utilizes wireless communication, similar to contactless payment that other countries already have in place. It is clear to see why this may be advantageous and preferred by many customers. At this point, it seems like the Apple Pay system can only be used at point-of-sale registers and on the app store with participating applications associated with various businesses. For those of you who operate an e-commerce site, my best guess is that it won’t be long before Apple Pay can be used and incorporated with online merchant systems as well (or maybe it is time to discuss why developing an app is now worthwhile. More on that later).
For now, I will address Apple Pay as a business tactic for in-person purchases or through an app available through the App Store, while making some suggestions on how you can incorporate or promote this service in your online environment.
What Apple Pay Offers Your Clients
At this point, Apple Pay is really all about offering a service to your clients. It is convenient for them to operate and use, and knowing that your store has Apple Pay is bound to get them excited.
However, excitement aside—the Apple Pay readers are generally around $300-500, which can be a hefty cost for small businesses. Right now the system is being used by a great deal of corporate merchants including grocery stores, boutiques, restaurants, and hotels.
The entire list of Apple Pay retailers can be accessed here on Apple’s site. Some e-commerce businesses (again, mostly larger corporations at this point) are also able to use Apple Pay when users make a purchase using their site’s application.
On American Express’ Open Forum discussed whether or not Apple Pay was going to be worthwhile for small business. They mentioned 20% of Americans would likely have access to Apple Pay by the end of the year, that shoppers like the idea because it boosts their data security—but that ultimately the spread of Apple Pay is pretty uncertain, and it may not be worth the investment just yet.
On that note, I want to make some recommendations in the next section for small businesses and e-commerce sites who are thinking about incorporating Apple Pay into their business plan.
Franchises can also benefit from the advice I am going to provide below, and can especially benefit from the Apple Pay systems if you are willing to get multiple locations on board.
Apple Pay Advice Small Businesses, Franchises, and E-Commerce Sites
So, you have made the decision to implement an Apple Pay system in your current business plan. Here is some advice to get started:
- Promote Apple Pay on your Website: Make sure you post that you have Apple Pay at your store locations on your website, that way site visitors know that they can use their contactless payment at your location. (This may sway them to shop with you over a competitor).
- Develop a Mobile App: If developing an app is within reason, now is really the time to consider it. There are several developers and companies that can help you develop an application that would work well with your small business or e-commerce store, and relevant to this article, would also allow you to use Apple Pay.
- Signs That You Offer Apple Pay: Make it clear at your retail location that you offer Apple Pay. While all of your customers may not be able to take advantage right away, many may be considering updating their mobile device, and this may encourage them to do so.
- Take it to Social Media: If you are going to make an investment in the Apple Pay system for the convenience of your customers, make sure you let them know about it! Take some time to launch social media announcements.
- Newsletters and Other Email Marketing: It is a good idea to indicate the Apple Pay logo at the end of newsletter and email marketing. Again, you are paying to have this system, so you want to let as many customers know as possible so that people can truly benefit from the service. I recommend placing the “We Offer Apple Pay” logo somewhere around your social media links.
The Takeaway
If you are going to take the time and effort (and funds) to incorporate Apple Pay into your business plan, I highly recommend you do so strategically. At the end of the day, this is something you are doing to benefit your customers, and thereby increase your business, so there is absolutely no reason not to make it clear that you offer the service, particularly if you are a small business owner.
Do you have experience using Apple Pay as a small business, franchise, or e-commerce company? Have you incorporated Apple Pay into an application that customers use regularly? Share your thoughts in the comments section below!

Search Engine Optimization…
Search Engine optimization is very important if you are looking to expand your internet exposure however, it seems that many people are victim to bad SEO (search Engine Optimization) practices. The major criticism is that a lot of people are paying completely too much for little or no results. In addition, a lot of them fall prey to bad SEO techniques. If you plan to hire an SEO pro in the future, I recommend you to follow the steps below before hiring any SEO firm or individual:
A) Find out how well-known and experienced an SEO firm is before you talk.
Do they have a considerable number of clients list?
Are they available?
B) Examine their portfolio.
What kind of results have they accomplished?
Contact a few of their clients. Were they satisfied with the SEO work that was done?
C) Consider and confirm their methods?
How will they optimize your site in the major search engines to reach your keywords?
Do they use organic methods? Some individuals or companies use doorway pages, hide text in the background, utilize re-directs and other blacklisted methods. Stay away from these because search engines consider these techniques as spam.
D) Get a least three proposals from other SEO companies.
Look at each one carefully. Are there similarities? Proposals will assist you know which companies are honest and which are trying to sell you something that doesn’t work.
What is the cost? The cheapest isn’t always the best; however, the highest price may not be attached to a complete and feasible course of action. Try to find an individual or a company that will give you what you want within your SEO financial plan.
E) Get everything in writing.
Look over the document carefully. Be sure it covers everything you have discussed, including methods of achieving your desired results. Have the copies signed by both parties. If the job is a large one you may want to consult a lawyer.
F) Clearly state the terms of payment.
While most SEO companies will not do any work for free or agree to a results based pay scale, many knowledgeable SEO professionals will not shy away from a base plus performance incentive package. I am not a firm believer in prepaid contracts. The majority of SEO professionals will abide by the 50% up front, 50% upon completion standard. Make sure all financial terms are as clearly defined in your contract as the actual scope of work. This will protect all parties involved in the event that expectations are not met.
All in all, try to do your best to train yourself on SEO. Have a basic understanding of SEO terminology and SEO methodology. Anyone offering SEO services should not have a problem explaining how they intend to get you results.

Web Design And Development – Web Designs That Ought To Be Retired By Marketers…
Website owners should be aware of bad web designers. You could fall a prey to it! For any website, a web design plays a very imperative role in every aspect. Your web design can simply make or break you. The design forms an opinion in the mind of the viewer about your website so if it’s not appealing enough, no one will take interest in your business. Your designs need to aid your audience in such a manner that they stay put on your site. Avoid the following designs that can turn your website and business into a total failure.
- Snarky Pop-ups
There are certain websites that have a pop-up option for subscription or other deals you might be offering. Though this is not a bad practice but if your audience gets distracted by it, you’re done for. As long as the user experience of the viewer remains intact, you’re all good to go. If not, all your marketing efforts will simply go down the drain. Those pop-ups that appear on the website after a certain amount of time and are fairly easy to get rid of are completely okay but then there are some that can go mean, and trust me, if they do, you’re in for a problematic ride.
- Sliders
Surprised? You must be wondering ‘how the heck did sliders make it to such a list?’ If the truth being told, sliders are not working in your website’s favor in any way. In fact, the slides are simply working against you. You are a marketing company, and the first thing you want to tell your viewers is how you can ease down their worries and pains, not distract them from all this. The multiple images being showed on the sliders can distract your viewers and sometimes, they can get annoyed and look for another website.
Your main target should be giving your audience what they need, and what do they need; they need you to give them the information they’re looking for and the reason why they landed on your website in the first place. No matter the sliders show relevant messages, it can be distracting at times and users may not irritated. Moreover, sliders tend to slow your website down a bit, especially when it comes to loading your website on the mobile. We all know that today, a huge number of people use their mobile gadgets rather than their laptops or desktop systems. Therefore, it is quite crucial that you keep this factor in mind to make things easy for your audience.
- Videos That Auto-play
Retreat!! You are being ambushed by auto-play videos and sounds. Like seriously, what were you thinking!! No one likes it when they are ambuscade with sounds and video noise. You didn’t set up this webpage just so you could drive away all those who landed on your website without them even looking at it once. The ultimate goal was to attract viewers. In many cases, as it is seen, in an attempt to get away from the entire racket, the viewers just quit viewing your website and opt for another one. What, are you trying to give your competition an easy catch? If you let your viewers decide if they want to watch a video or not, it will only increase the user experience of your website.
- Skeuomorphism
The way this trend was going, it seemed it had no end to it. But finally the trend has dulled out. This design that makes images look real and lifelike has been used way too much and it needs to take a break now.
Remember, the website you create is more for your viewers as much as it is for your business. So whenever you choose a design, keep the viewer.

Professional SEO Services: An Expert Ensures All Guidelines Are Followed…
Professional service providers can be found in almost every marketing niche. In its inception, online marketing used straightforward practices during the initial start of search engine optimization, or SEO. Today, companies are finding they have to employ expert services due to the immense guidelines set by search engine providers.
Spamming has become so common that many service providers have developed rules to reduce the unethical efforts used to bypass natural ranking progression. Initially, a company could include a keyword in the main title and a Meta tag a few times in the content to receive a sufficient ranking among main search engines. The details have become far more intricate these days, making it near impossible for a business to achieve desired results without the assistance of professional SEO services.
SEO Strategy: Good Practices Accomplish Better Results
Beginning SEO strategy practices caused “keyword stuffing” to occur. This technique is accomplished by using the same keyword repeatedly throughout tags and the content, and is now shunned by major search engines like Google. While this technique slipped through for a while, search engines eventually caught on. In response, these service providers began using incoming link counts as another factor for ranking.
Google’s ranking algorithm also came into play around the same time. According to their algorithm, every page link is a vote that provides additional authority to the page. Buying or swapping of links became another form of spam. Focus changed again to the relevancy between the link and the site it led to. Subjects must be related to be considered legitimate by search engines.
SEO requirements are constantly changing as people find new ways to spam their way to top rankings. Google and other engines attempt to prevent ranking increases from bad practices. They even supply tools to assist with the process. Professionals must stay current on the latest requirements so they can provide the best services to their clients.
Penalties can result from shady SEO strategies. Since ninety percent of traffic comes from search engine use, these practices are a driving marketing force for most businesses. A business will benefit more when this service is done in a reputable manner. Various tools or techniques, such as article submissions, web site optimization, and blog postings, may be used by professional SEO services.
A business gets listed before others when the results page appears by increasing page rankings. The listing order is based on keyword relevancy and can only be enhanced through acceptable SEO practices. Google and other providers supply specific guidelines that must be followed to achieve higher ranks. These resources assist in creating natural ranking increases through ethical methods.
A reputable SEO strategy involves implementing quality site content, using proper titles like valid Meta tags, keyword research, and quality links. Professional SEO companies can ensure all guidelines are met while supplying effective site optimization. Not following search engine rules can get a website labeled as spam. A business site may be removed from the listing altogether if unethical practices are being used. It is best to find a dependable expert who can provide the techniques and service needed to achieve results properly.

The Free Search Engine Optimization…
SEO is the abbreviation of search engine optimization, a set of techniques meant to increase the visibility or ranking of a website or web page in search engines, through non-paid search results. As a consequence, if one website frequently appears in the listed search results, it will gain more and more visitors form the search engine.
The role of the keyword is essential. You have to find the right one, that will lead people to your page. All results represent the basis of keyword researches, indicating how many times did different visitors search for the same phrase, number of the returned results and also number of websites using the same keywords. This is an extremely important information for the Internet marketing strategy. SEO techniques will always change, being influenced by Internet searches. They may refer to several types of search, like local, image or video search in order to create the web presence of a site.
SEO methods may be classified in two main categories. There are several techniques of SEO, recommended by the search engines, the so called white hat SEO. Their results are usually long lasting. The second type is represented by those techniques that don’t get approval from the engines, also called black hat SEO. The visibility of the website is increased by means that involve deception. Two examples are cloaking or the use of hidden text.
There are some specific tools used in order to obtain a higher position in the engines. Some free SEO tools will be useful for increasing the visibility of a website, while the advanced tools make the site more visible but they also provide a better ranking, so visitors will easily find it.
Meta Tags may be of great use, because they provide the visitors and the engines essential information like keywords, language and page description. Meta Tag Analyzer follows closely the Meta Tag Builder. It verifies the entire content of the site indicating if it will be accepted by the search engines. Easy Submit is another important tool, because it facilitates the submission of the website to the engines. It will only take a few minutes.
You can easily increase your website traffic and search ranking by following some simple rules. It was already mentioned – the appropriate keyword. The domain name is also very important, as well as the use of keywords in page titles, file names and folders. Create a concise site map and content, using frequently the keywords.

Website Design Considerations – 10+ Tips for Website Designing…
Having a good design is as important as the quality contents for any website. The website design is an important aspect of website creation, as it is the first impression for the first time visitors. It also reflects the overall quality of your website. If your website is poorly designed, your visitors may not even like to go through any content – forget about their second visit! Your website must be appealing to your audience. So the question is – how to create a good designed website?
Here are some of the elements you must take into consideration while designing your web pages:
- Web Pages Standardization
- Web Page Layout
- Web Page Width
- Page Background
- Use of Fonts
- Readability
- Navigation
- Picture and Icons
- Page Loading Time
- Simplicity
- Learning from other Websites
Web Pages Standardization
You must standardize the items in all the web pages of your website. The overall ‘look’ of your website must be similar and your visitors must recognize that the web page they are visiting belongs to the same website. It is important to keep the background color of the pages, tables, lists, panels, etc. either same or similar for each page. You also need to standardize the font type, size and color for your headings, paragraphs and lists.
For doing this, use of cascaded style sheet (CSS) is highly recommended. You do not only standardize your web pages with CSS, but also avoid putting the formatting tags in your web pages. This helps you in two ways – first you can change the look of your website just by changing your CSS file and second, the size of your web page reduces significantly taking less time to load in browsers.
Web Page Layout
Web page layout is the basic element of your website design. Page layout deals with the way you organize your content. You must take into consideration the purpose of your website before freezing your web page layout. The layout must be such that the visitor can easily see and navigate to all the important contents. You must decide on placing the important links at prominent place. You should also know your targeted audience – what is the age group, what is their profile, which part of the world do they belong to, and take these into consideration. Please visit our web page layout section for getting the idea how to create a website layout.
Web Page Width
The width of your web page is an important element of your website design. Users do not want to scroll horizontally; the web page must fit in their screen size. Page width can be defined both in pixel as well as percentage. If you define your page width in pixels, it is fixed. If you define it in percentage, it changes with screen size. Both the defining methods have their pros and cons. It is much easier to place the contents inside a fixed width and the layout does not change with screen size. However, if the screen size is smaller than the defined width, user has to scroll to navigate the contents. Also for larger screen sizes, much area of the screen remains unused.
If you decide to define width in percentage, the page width changes with screen size and easily fit inside it. However, the layout and placement may get changed with change in screen size. The choice is yours – you should decide on width definition based on the purpose of your website.
If you decide to keep the width of your web pages fixed, try to centrally align your pages, it looks pleasing on larger screen sizes. Also keep the page width maximum 1024 pixels to accommodate smaller screen sizes. Based on whether your page width is fixed or flexible, you should decide the other elements’ width and positioning.
Page Background
My personal suggestion is to use the page background of light color. If you wish to keep any picture in the web page background, make sure it does not affect the readability of actual contents. You may like to use any pattern in the page background. Try to keep the size of pattern smaller; it will by default be repeated in both horizontal and vertical directions. If you do not want to repeat your background picture, you can define the style in the CSS file with ‘repeat: none;’ command.
Some designers use dark colors for the background and light colors for the texts. However, the light color background and dark color texts are pleasant looking and are easy to your eyes.
Use of Fonts
You should stick to using a few similar font families (font-faces) for all your web pages, rather than using different fonts for different page. Some of the widely used font families for websites are – Tahoma, Verdana and Arial. These are all sans-serif type of fonts which are easier to read on electronic screens. In contrast to that, ‘Times New Roman’ is of serif type, which looks better in print media.
You should also keep the font size of your paragraphs 12 pixels or more – 14px looks ideal to me. Some designers keep the font size smaller to accommodate more texts; however, it becomes difficult for visitors to read what is written in your paragraphs. You should also increase the default line height which seems to be very thin. Line height is the gap between two lines. I use line height of 1.6em in place of default 1em to enhance the readability. You can decide for your website based on requirements.
Another important consideration is to select the color of the text for the various sections. As already mentioned, standardize and keep the font-color similar in all your web pages. Dark colors are best suited for texts and headers. You may try with various color combination to finalize a set of colors for your texts. Always make sure that there is a good contrast between your page background and text so that it is easily readable. Use of fancy text should be avoided or limited to some specific items like your tag lines and logo.
Readability
Try to incorporate various HTML elements like headers, paragraphs, lists, tables etc. at proper place to make your contents easily readable. Use line-breaks at appropriate places in your paragraphs. While using tables, define ‘cellspacing’ and ‘cellpadding’. Provide some space between two blocks in both horizontal and vertical direction. Where necessary, use borders and horizontal lines to separate contents.
Navigation
Website navigation allows users to go from one page to other and plays a very vital role in making the right content available to them in short search time. It is advisable to keep your important links at the top section of your website, preferably at the same place in all pages. Use different color for the links – other than the normal text, so that they can easily get identified. You may like to change the font-color of the links on mouse over.
The navigation section for other pages should be clearly visible and should be placed at prominent place. Make sure all your pages are accessible at least from one different page.
Pictures and Icons
Pictures and icons make your web pages distinct and attractive. It quickly tells your visitors what to expect from the content. Placing right picture at right place is an art which can only be learnt with practice. Try to use a set of icons for your web pages. You do not need to create icons or take picture yourself. There are many websites available which provide pictures and icons free of cost. You may like to try iconfinder.com to search the icons of your choice and size – but make sure that these are free for commercial use.
Adding a lot of pictures and multimedia can have a negative effect on your website. Multimedia files take longer time to download and your visitor may not like to wait till then. Use the pictures judiciously – don’t overdo. Also keep a watch on the size of your graphics – it should not be too fatty! Compress them if required – there are many websites available online which will do it for you free of cost.
One more important thing to do is to define width and height of each of your picture. It ensures that even if the picture does not get downloaded, the page layout will not get distorted or changed. I recommend going through HTML Image Tutorial if you have not already done so.
Page Loading Time
Imagine a situation where you click on a link in Google search result and the website is taking a long time to load. What will you do? Will you wait till the page loads or return back to search result to try a different link?
Answer is very obvious – everybody is in hurry these days and there are lots of alternatives available. So it is important to keep the page loading time as less as possible – ideally within 10 seconds for a standard internet connection. So how to create a website which takes lesser time to load? The answer is – keep only what is actually required. Avoid use of unnecessary JavaScript files, graphics, flash objects, etc.
Simplicity
If you ask me what is a good website design, the answer will be it should look simple yet effective. Simplicity does not mean that you should not be creative. Be creative but don’t overdo things. Few years back, many of the web pages were full of flashy, colorful, moving, blinking objects. Those days are now gone – people are not interested in your Photoshop skills any more if you misuse it. Try to keep your website simple and easy to maintain. This will also reduce your page loading time and not unnecessarily annoy your visitors.
Learning from other Websites
Internet is the best place to learn website designing. Look at some of your favorite websites – even when these are not related to yours. See what makes them appealing to you. What are the best practices which you may use? Don’t copy but there is nothing wrong in getting the idea and implementing something similar for your website. For practicing, you may try to design your webpage exactly as your favorite website. If you continued learning and practicing, you will start designing the great websites on your own.
